Napakatinding Rebelasyon! 'Scalawag' Cops Bumayad ng P500K Para Hindi e Reassign sa Basilan

MANILA, Philippines -  A Manila policeman who allegedly paid his superiors P500,000 to avoid reassignment to Basilan is being investigated by the National Capital Region Police Office.

NCRPO chief Director Oscar Albayalde said he directed Senior Supt. Eleazar Matta, NCRPO intelligence chief, to validate the report and come up with a recommendation as soon as possible.

Albayalde did not name the police officer and the superiors he supposedly bribed pending the outcome of Matta’s probe.

He said no stone would be left unturned in the probe against the policeman, who also reportedly moonlights as an operator of racehorse bookies in Manila, a form of illegal gambling.

“Even if there is no complainant against the policeman, we have many ways to adjudicate the report against him,” Albayalde said.

“It is unfair for the policemen who heeded the order for them to (go) to Basilan (while) this policeman paid his way out of the reassignment,” he added.

At least 317 rogue policemen facing extortion, robbery and other charges were reassigned to Basilan due to the cleansing process ordered by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa following the kidnapping and murder of Korean national Jee Ick-joo.

Only 53 of the policemen showed up and complied with Dela Rosa’s directive.

All of the 66 Manila policemen who were included in the list prepared by the NCRPO snubbed the reassignment order.

But a handful of them appeared before President Duterte in Malacañang, including the policeman now under investigation for supposedly trying to avoid reassignment.
