President Duterte Nagbigay ng P10,000 Cash Aid To Repatriated OFWs From Saudi Arabia

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte welcomed around 150 repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Saudi Arabia at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City early Monday morning, April 17.

A total of 150 Filipinos, who had availed of Saudi Arabian government’s amnesty for undocumented workers, returned to the country along with the President following his three state visits to the Middle East.

The President expressed gratitude over the safe trip of repatriated Filipino workers, whom he said had contributed to country’s economic gains.

“I am thankful that you are home safely. You can now be with your family and loved ones. We know your hard work and sacrifice. I have directed relevant government agencies to assist you as you turn a new chapter of your life. Thank you for the help you give to the country,” the Chief Executive said in a speech before the repatriated OFWs.

The repatriated Filipino workers received P5,000 each from President Duterte and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, or a total of P10,000 cash assistance from the government.

President Duterte described his trips to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar as the “most productive” as they were “very much more than willing really to help the Filipinos.”

He vowed that he would continue to bring back all Filipinos from the Middle East who wants to return to their homes.

“All who want to go back to the Philippines will return home. I will spend money for that. [That is] one way of repaying for their sacrifices also,” President Duterte said.
