Sen. Gordon Binoking Ang Plano Ng LP Senators Laban Kay Duterte

Quite a few senators are pretending to become part of the administration whilst actually being in the opposition, Sen. Richard Gordon, a member of the Senate vast majority, stated.

Gordon noted that five senators have been "acting in unison" with minority Senators Antonio Trillanes IV and Ralph Recto.

The senator was referring to Senators Bam Aquino, Franklin Drilon, Risa Hontiveros and Leila de Lima, who're all associates of the Liberal Party.

"I think if you are in the opposition, you should stay in the opposition," Gordon stated in an job interview on CNN Philippines' The Source.

Senators from the LP enjoy committee chairmanships but tend to act towards the administration, Gordon stated.

When the Liberal senators do leave the bulk, they stand to lose the chairmanships of their committees.

Earlier this week, the 5 LP senators voted with the two minority associates on whether to refer the decision on who should direct an investigation right into a bribery scandal in the Bureau of Immigration to the Senate Committee on Rules.

Voting 14-7, the Senate decided to refer the issue towards the Guidelines committee, that is chaired by Vast majority Leader Vicente Sotto III.

Prior to the issue was settled, a heated argument arose between Trillanes and Sen. Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri on who ought to direct the inquiry into the bribery allegations.

Trillanes, who heads the Senate Committee on Civil Service, Authorities Reorganization and Expert Conduct, wanted to direct the inquiry. Zubiri, however, recommended the Committee on Justice, chaired by Gordon, should direct the investigation.

Both committees have been permitted to hold hearings on specific and independent aspects of the Bureau of Immigration bribery scandal.

The Trillanes-led Civil Services committee will maintain hearings "exclusively around the reorganization element from the Bureau of Immigration", while Gordon's Justice committee will concentrate on the administration aspect, Sotto stated.
